The Regulators

MOUTHFUL

KFC - 2005
Complains: 1671
The most complained about advert of all time
Reason: viewers complained that this advert encourage bad manners amongst children

In the UK, the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) regulates all the advertising including TV advert. When you feel an advert offensive in some way, check whether your complaint is covered by the ASA, if it is, submit your complaint online, or telephone, textphone, or write to ASA, the ASA Council will decides whether the Advertising Codes have been breached or not.
In this advert, there are some call centre workers singing with their mouths full of KFC Zinger Crunch salad because "it's just too tasty". I understand why it has so many complains because it showed the bad behaviour so the parent afraid that their children would copy them. But I rather think that it's funny because no one would do that for real, if we really done that in reality we wouldn't laugh at it. According to the BBC News, this advert did not breach industry guidelines, the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has ruled.
Overall, despite the fact that the advert of KFC Zinger Crunch Salad wasn't be banned by the ASA, this advert have already been cleared by the Broadcast Advertising Clearance Centre

compare advert

Old ad: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PslVz0mHnFg
New ad: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91OfSIzn5iY
Nowadays, TV advert has became very popular in every single TV channel. Since 1955, when the first TV advert ever has introduced, advertising industry has more and more developed and of course, has changed a lot. Have a look at the first TV advert - Gibbs SR Toothpaste and the new one - Colgate Expert White so we can see the differences.
In the old advert, a tube of toothpaste sits embedded in a block of ice as a young woman vigorously brushes her teeth, while the beautifully enunciated tones of the TV presenter announces: "The tingling fresh toothpaste that does your gums good too. It's tingling fresh. It's fresh as ice. It's Gibbs SR toothpaste.". It also give a chart compare between the Gum Infection and the Tooth Decay as well. This advert was quite slow ans give so many detail make consumers believe more on the product. It uses adjective like tingling, fresh, it show the women uses it for real.
In the new one, an attractive women was laugh with her white teeth, she got the toothpaste and threw it to another women who had white teeth too. Both of them walked on the red catwalk, while the beautifully enunciated tones of the TV presenter announces: "She's got it, and now she's has it too. The latest beauty secret it out. New Colgate Expert White, have you got it?". It also ran a cartoon about the professional whitening ingredient make the yellow tooth became white. This advert is quick with a lot of flash light. It has not one but more and more people who got the product, it also keep repeat the question encourage consumer to got it, to buy it.
Both of them use some same technique is they both have beautiful, attractive women with white teeth, it could because the main person who buy toothpaste in the family is the mother. Otherwise they also use cartoon on their advert to make it easier to understand. Moreover, both of them use repetition technique to highlight the main ideals. Nevertheless, they both use the white background make people think about white teeth and they also use music to make their ads easy to remember.
